This is my dream home.
No, really. It is.
This was once a mechanic's garage.Cassie, lives here with her collection of art and other wonderful things right smack in the middle of our little city's downtown area. She invited me to come visit one afternoon, and I fell deeply, hopelessly in love. I would be lying if I said that my stomach didn't ache with envy as I toured her home. Who needs a back yard when you've got a space like this?
Cassie walks across the street to the library. She walks to some of our town's best restaurants. She walks to live performances that are actually quite good, I hear. I wouldn't know, because I live on the edge of town in a ubiquitous neo-eclectic on a street that doesn't even have a sidewalk.
(For the record, I love our home--really, I do. Our home has many wonderful qualities, but urban coolness just isn't one of them.)
Concrete walls and minimalist fixtures serve as perfect backdrops for Cassie's objets d'art. The windows allow the most delicious light I've ever seen to filter in from the south through clear glass, and from the east through semi-translucent panes.
The juxtaposition of that buttery soft white leather chair against the concrete and metal was just about more than I could take. I sat in that chair. It is heaven on four legs, in case you were wondering.
This place is an absolute treat. See and read more about Cassie's loft and her incredible artwork here.
